U4N Looks At Path of Exile 2's Campaign And Classes Before Version 1.0
With Path of Exile 2 scheduled to leave Early Access on December 11, attention is increasingly focused on what the version 1.0 package will actually contain. Players are particularly interested in the campaign and character roster, two areas that have changed considerably during development. The game's economy will also remain central to progression, making Path of Exile 2 Currency a useful resource for players building characters, crafting equipment, and participating in trade.
The campaign currently uses four major acts followed by three temporary interludes. Grinding Gear Games has previously suggested that the finished campaign would accompany the 1.0 milestone, leading many players to expect the temporary structure to eventually be replaced by additional full acts.
The Campaign Is Still Evolving
The current campaign structure should not necessarily be treated as the final version of Path of Exile 2.
Players currently progress through four acts before encountering three interludes. These interludes have served as a way for Grinding Gear Games to continue the overall narrative while the remaining campaign content has been developed.
That arrangement works during Early Access, but it naturally creates questions about what version 1.0 will look like. A full release is generally expected to provide a more cohesive campaign experience, especially when the developer has previously connected the 1.0 milestone with campaign completion.
Why Six Acts Became A Common Expectation
The community has widely anticipated a six-act campaign, largely because the current interludes have been understood as temporary sections rather than the definitive final structure.
The expectation is that additional campaign acts will eventually replace those temporary portions. This would create a more conventional progression path and provide a larger narrative framework for the completed game.
However, it is important to distinguish between what players expect and what has been officially confirmed. The December launch announcement has not provided a definitive confirmation that every expected act will arrive in exactly that form.
As the release approaches, Grinding Gear Games will likely clarify which campaign components are included at launch.
The Duelist Is A Major Addition
The character roster provides another major talking point.
The Duelist has recently been shown as an upcoming class, complete with sword-oriented gameplay. Its arrival is significant because swords have been one of the major pieces missing from the current Path of Exile 2 experience.
Adding the Duelist would push the playable class lineup considerably closer to the larger roster envisioned for the sequel. It would also introduce new skills, mechanics, equipment interactions, and build possibilities.
For a game built around character customization, the introduction of a new class can have effects far beyond simply giving players another character choice.
Three Planned Classes Still Stand Out
Even with the Duelist, the Marauder, Templar, and Shadow could remain outside the initial version 1.0 lineup.
That does not automatically mean these classes have been removed from development. Grinding Gear Games has previously indicated that it was not promising every planned class for the 1.0 release. Instead, the studio has placed emphasis on developing the existing classes and their Ascendancy options.
This approach gives the developers more room to polish the systems already in place while continuing to build the remaining classes afterward.
Post-Launch Content Remains Important
Path of Exile 2 is being developed as a long-term action RPG, so version 1.0 should not necessarily be interpreted as the final point of development.
Post-launch updates can introduce additional classes, Ascendancies, weapons, skills, and other systems. That means a player who starts in December could see the character roster expand significantly over time.
This is particularly relevant for fans who have been waiting for classes such as the Marauder or Shadow. Their eventual arrival could provide entirely new ways to approach combat and character progression.
Preparing For New Builds
Players preparing for the full release may also want to think about how Path of Exile 2 Items for sale relate to their preferred builds. New classes can create demand for different equipment, while new skills can change which attributes and modifiers are valuable.
A strong economy gives players more ways to acquire useful equipment and experiment with different character concepts. That becomes especially important when the game introduces new archetypes and specialized Ascendancies.
The Long-Term Character Roster
For players considering POE2 Currency, the evolving class roster is another reason to watch how the economy develops after launch. New classes can create fresh demand for weapons, armor, crafting materials, and other resources.
Path of Exile 2's move to version 1.0 should therefore be viewed as the beginning of a new phase. The campaign is expected to become more complete, the Duelist is on the way, and additional classes may follow later. Even if the December release does not deliver the entire original vision, the foundation for future expansion appears to remain firmly in place.
