U4N Highlights Aion 2's Large-Scale Server Test Ahead of Launch
NC is preparing Aion 2 for its official release with a public launch-scale test designed to expose the game's infrastructure to a much larger player population. Instead of requiring selected testers to receive invitations, the company is opening the test broadly through Steam and Purple. For players interested in Aion 2 Items, this is also an opportunity to explore the early game while seeing which features are available before launch.
Open Access Keeps the Test Simple
The technical test is scheduled for September 17 and 18, creating a two-day window for players to participate. There are no access codes or individual invitations required. Players simply need to obtain the appropriate test build through one of the supported platforms.
NC has already enabled pre-loading, allowing participants to download the necessary files before the servers become available. That preparation is particularly useful for a test focused on large-scale activity because the development team wants as many players as possible to enter the environment rather than lose testing time to lengthy downloads.
The Testing Schedule Changes Between Days
Thursday's test period runs from 6 a.m. to noon Pacific Time, corresponding to 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Eastern Time. Friday's session begins later, running from noon to 6 p.m. Pacific Time and 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern Time.
Progress made on Thursday will remain available when players return on Friday. This gives participants a more continuous experience during the two-day event. Nevertheless, none of the progress will survive the conclusion of the test because the characters and associated test data will be reset before the commercial launch.
Level 37 Marks the Testing Ceiling
The test version places a level cap of 37 on characters. NC is using this ceiling to control the amount of content available and prevent players from moving into areas or systems designed for progression beyond the scope of the test.
A capped environment also gives developers a more predictable range of character power and activity. Instead of testing every endgame feature at once, NC can concentrate resources on the systems and content most relevant to the launch-scale test. Players should therefore treat the build as a technical preview rather than a representation of the complete game.
Trading and Purchases Stay Offline
The temporary test environment removes several economic features. Players will not be able to purchase items, conduct player-to-player trades, use the Marketplace, or access the Quna exchange. This means the test will not provide a meaningful preview of the game's final player economy.
Founder’s Pack content is also unavailable during testing, even for players who have already purchased a qualifying package. In addition, the Closet system is disabled, leaving players with default appearance options. These limitations allow NC to reduce unnecessary system activity while concentrating on server capacity and stability.
Steam and Purple Have Different Transitions
Players testing through Steam should remember that the test client is separate from the final game installation. Steam users who have Advanced Access through a Founder’s Pack will need to uninstall the test build and later download the standard release version for the September 30 head-start period.
Purple users have a more convenient transition because their installation can update directly for Advanced Access. Both platforms will ultimately connect players to the same servers once the MMORPG officially launches on October 5. This shared-server structure means platform choice will not divide the player population.
During the technical test, there is little reason to focus on acquiring economic resources because trading systems are unavailable. Once the normal economy opens, however, players may encounter listings involving cheap Aion 2 Items as the market develops and players establish their preferred methods of progression.
The two-day event gives NC a concentrated opportunity to observe how its infrastructure responds to a substantial player population. Although much of the game's economy and customization functionality will be unavailable, the test can still help players understand the early experience and prepare for the official release. With Advanced Access beginning September 30 and the broader launch following on October 5, the test serves as a final technical step before the game moves into its full release phase.
