Forged Steel Gate Valve Manufacturer in USA

SVR Global is a forged steel gate valve manufacturer in USA supplying compact, high-strength isolation valves for oil and gas, refineries, petrochemical plants, steam systems, power generation, chemical processing, boiler systems and industrial pipelines.

Forged steel gate valves are commonly selected for small-bore, high-pressure and high-temperature applications. The forged body provides a refined grain structure, high mechanical strength and reliable pressure containment.

A gate valve should normally be used in the fully open or fully closed position. It is not recommended for prolonged throttling because high-velocity flow across a partially open wedge can damage the seating surfaces.

Forged steel gate valve types

SVR Global manufactures bolted-bonnet gate valves, welded-bonnet gate valves, pressure-seal gate valves, outside-screw-and-yoke gate valves, rising-stem gate valves, solid-wedge gate valves, flexible-wedge gate valves and reduced-bore gate valves.

Bolted-bonnet construction allows disassembly for maintenance. Welded-bonnet construction reduces the number of body joints. Pressure-seal bonnet construction is used for high-pressure and high-temperature applications where internal pressure energises the bonnet seal.

Size range

Available sizes: ½ inch to 2 inches, DN15 to DN50.

Project-specific compact sizes: Up to 4 inches depending on design and pressure class.

SVR Global’s standard forged steel gate valve range covers ½ to 2 inches, with DN15 to DN50 displayed in the current product specification.

Pressure classes

ASME ratings: Class 150, Class 300, Class 600, Class 800, Class 900, Class 1500, Class 2500.

PN ratings: PN25 to PN450.

The currently displayed compact valve specification covers Class 800 to Class 2500.

Materials

Body and bonnet materials: ASTM A105, ASTM A350 LF2, ASTM A182 F11, ASTM A182 F22, ASTM A182 F304, ASTM A182 F304L, ASTM A182 F316, ASTM A182 F316L, ASTM A182 F51, ASTM A182 F91.

Wedge materials: ASTM A182 F6a, F304, F316, F51, hard-faced stainless steel.

Stem materials: SS410, SS304, SS316, 17-4 PH stainless steel, Duplex F51.

Seat materials: F6a with Stellite hard-facing, SS304, SS316, Duplex F51, cobalt-alloy hard-facing.

Packing materials: flexible graphite, graphite with corrosion inhibitor, PTFE for suitable lower-temperature service.

Gasket materials: spiral-wound graphite, graphite ring, pressure-seal graphite gasket.

Bolting materials: ASTM A193 B7, ASTM A193 B8, ASTM A193 B8M, ASTM A194 2H, ASTM A194 8, ASTM A194 8M.

SVR Global’s displayed construction uses A105, F304, F316 or F11 bodies, F6a with hard-facing seats, stainless-steel stems, graphite packing, A193 B7 bolts and A194 2H nuts.

End connections

Socket weld, butt weld, threaded NPT, threaded BSP, raised face flanged and ring type joint flanged connections can be supplied.

Socket-weld and threaded ends: ASME B16.11.

Butt-weld preparation: ASME B16.25.

Flanged connections: ASME B16.5.

Socket-weld valves are commonly used in high-pressure small-bore piping. Butt-weld valves reduce external leak paths. Threaded valves are generally used where the piping code and service permit threaded connections.

Bore options

Forged gate valves can be supplied with full-bore or reduced-bore construction depending on the pressure class and body design.

The actual bore should be verified from the approved drawing. A compact Class 800 or Class 1500 valve may use a reduced internal port.

Operation

Handwheel, chainwheel, bevel gearbox, electric actuator, pneumatic actuator and hydraulic actuator options can be supplied.

Small forged gate valves are normally handwheel operated. Automated operation may be used for remote isolation, emergency shutdown or high-cycle applications.

Standards

Forged valve design: API 602.

Pressure-temperature design: ASME B16.34.

Inspection and testing: API 598.

Socket-weld and threaded ends: ASME B16.11.

Butt-weld preparation: ASME B16.25.

Flanged ends: ASME B16.5.

Sour service: NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 when specified.

SVR Global’s forged gate valve page lists sizes from ½ to 2 inches, Classes 150 to 2500, PN25 to PN450, forged carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel and duplex materials, with socket-weld, butt-weld, flanged and threaded end connections.

Testing

Testing can include hydrostatic shell testing, high-pressure seat testing, low-pressure pneumatic seat testing, dimensional inspection, positive material identification, hardness testing, impact testing, magnetic-particle examination and ultrasonic examination.

Additional NDE must be specified before production when required by the project.

SVR Global manufactures forged steel gate valves with project-specific body material, trim, bonnet construction, pressure class and end connection.

Why are forged gate valves used in high-pressure piping?

Forged construction provides compact dimensions, high mechanical strength and reliable pressure containment, making the valve suitable for small-bore, high-pressure and high-temperature isolation service.
